I’m Jessica, and I’m so glad you’re here. When I first became a parent, I felt so full of insecurities and self-doubt. I did not expect to feel so inadequate at something that I thought was supposed to be “natural” when I was used to meeting challenges head-on in academic and professional settings. I struggled and certainly didn’t feel comfortable reaching out to my partner or others because, surely, no one else must feel like I did. Oh, how wrong I was!
I began providing Marriage & Family Therapy in 2013, but previously worked in community behavioral health with children and families since 2008. During that time, I noticed that while children were being referred for services, the parents were often in need of their own support but struggled to find a good fit. I focused my training experience on helping clients overcome depression and anxiety, work through trauma, and navigate parenthood and other major life transitions. I opened Cultivating Heart Counseling to create a safe space to explore all those insecurities, doubts, and worries about life changes and relationships without judgement.
